ABOUT ME

Some people say that their work isn’t who they are, it’s just what they do. I’d have to say, my work is who I am and what I do. I’m a writer. I certainly have done more than just writing over the course of my career as a B2B content professional, but that’s how I spend a lot of my time. I obsess about words, and think hard about the best way to explain things.

I wasn’t always a wordsmith. In fact, my twin sister, Gigi, was the bookworm, and I was the one outside playing, getting dirty, and running around with the boys – like a tomboy. But, it was through a collaboration with my twin that sparked my interest in writing, and changed my course.

We decided to collaborate and write the next chapters of the story, The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton. We bought a spiral-bound notebook, and in bold, black letters wrote, “The Outsiders II,” on the front cover. No brainstorming occurred or outlines were written. I just handed her the notebook to start. “You write the first chapter. And, then I’ll write the next.”

I can’t recall any of the details of the story we both wrote, but what is most vivid to me was how excited we were to read one another’s chapter and figure out how to author the next. These moments writing with my sister were pivotal in my history because it made me realize my love and talent for writing, and the true power in creative collaboration.

To this day, that magic of authoring a story and brainstorming new content ideas still excites me. It's what I love most about the work I do.
